The New Testament paints a rich picture of belonging to the church. Through God's grace, we are welcomed into God's family by being united with Jesus Christ through baptism. As members of Christ's body, we are loved, cared for and called to follow him together. Within the church, each person has unique gifts, experiences and perspectives to contribute, and together we use these gifts to serve one another, build up the church and join in God's mission in the world. Church membership is more than attending a service, it is about belonging to Christ, belonging to one another, and participating in God's work together.

One expression of membership in the Uniting Church is that of a confirmed member. 

A confirmed member has been baptised (as an adult or child) and made a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
